As a philosophy, the focus of Six Sigma is to reduce and control variation, defects and rework in processes. As a methodology, Six Sigma establishes critical thinking and integrates problem solving tools to ensure robust process and design solutions.

Benefits
Confirms Problems With Data, Improves Measurement Systems, Prioritizes and Identifies Multiple Failure Modes, Reduces Risk of Redesign, Improved Manufacturing Process Capability, Improved Ongoing Control

DMAIC Thought Process
The DMIAC thought process defines the problem-solving approach based on “Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control”. Define what’s important and ensure project stakeholders agree on a precise problem statement. Ensure the measurement of the problem is confirmed and accurate. Analyze and prioritize all possible factors affecting the (problematic) result. Improve the most likely contributing and root causes. Control to guarantee ongoing improved performance.
